This unique World Percussion instrument is best known for its use in Brazilian Samba music. The Cuica is called a friction drum, as its high pitched tone is made by creating friction on the bamboo stick that is attached to the head of the drum. By rubbing the stick with a damp cloth, the friction causes the head of the drum to vibrate.
This REMO Cuica features a fixed 8” head, cherry red finish, a quick-change bamboo stick, and a strap for easy holding.
