Extraordinary Associate of the Month July 2016: Ryan Seaba
By West Music Company
8/26/2016 8:00:00 AM
We are happy to announce Ryan Seaba as our West Music July 2016 Associate of the Month! Ryan’s hard work this past summer has not gone unnoticed.

As a Customer Service Representative in our General Music department, Ryan works with our customers on a daily basis. His recent follow-through on an order caught the attention of the customer. Ryan was processing web orders and noticed back-toback duplicate orders by the same customer. He reached out to the customer to verify and followed up with tracking information. He received the following response: “Thank you for contacting me Ryan. No, it was unintentional and I appreciate that you cancelled the second order. I will remember this kindness. The gathering drum arrived today and we love it! We’re using it in our dance studio and I’m confident that it will bring a lot of smile. Thank you for your excellent customer service!”
Dionne, Happy Customer

Ryan has also recently begun recording our monthly Messages on Hold, for both the General Music division and our retail locations. He has worked back and forth between IT and the Marketing department to understand his new responsibilities. “Since Ryan assumed the role of “Voice of West Music” last month, and now handles recording our Message on Hold, he has executed his role over and above, by not only recording beautiful voiceovers from the scripts, but adding his own originally composed music covering many different genres. Thanks Ryan for your terrific and unique contribution to your role as Voice of West Music!”
As told by Lisa Lafler,
Director of Marketing

Congratulations, Ryan! Keep up the fantastic work andthank you for all you do.

Quad Cities August 2016 Musician of the Month: Gabriella "GG" Gilbert
By West Music Company
8/2/2016 8:00:00 AM
Gabriella "GG" Gilbert has been taking piano lessons with Deb Story for six years. She started with piano and soon switched to vocal. It was definitely her calling. Since then, she has done everything from learning the correct pronunciation of latin, to singing Disney to Gwen Stefani to country music. Right now, she is working on becoming a tribal law lawyer. She is in her sophomore year at Scott Community College.

This winter, Gabriella is auditioning for The Voice. She advises all musicians to work really hard. When it gets complicated, keep going. But more importantly, to look past your ego. She says that yes, she is really talented, but there is always more to learn and it's very important to be able to admit that to yourself and to others.

"GG Has a great work and practice ethic.  She's always ready.  Her range is amazing.  She dedicates herself to music 110% all the time."

Congratulations, Gabriella!

Cedar Rapids August 2016 Musician of the Month: Octavia Barbulescu
By West Music Company
8/2/2016 8:00:00 AM
Octavia Barbulescu is a flute student of Laura Phillips. She is in the 9th grade at Linn Mar High School in Marion and has studied with Laura for only 15 months! Laura nominated Octavia for Musician of the Month because she is highly motivated and works hard, which results in progress from basics to fully advanced flute technique. She earns outstanding ratings at competitions and challenges herself to play the hardest parts well in ensembles.

Octavia's musical goal is to get into All State and the top band in her school. Her advice to other musicians is to love the instrument and music you play- and remember to practice and work hard. She loves getting attached to the music. It makes the music feel personal.

Octavia plays piano as well and plays flute at West Music’s annual Celtic Camp. Her hobbies include writing, reading and playing video games. Her favorite musicians are Mozart, Troge Sivan, Of Monsters and Men and Melanie Martinez.

Congratulations, Octavia!
