For all junior high and high school level pianists. All piano students and educators are encouraged to attend! This is a special Saturday afternoon piano event in preparation for this year’s FMTA Music Festival at Augustana College. Dr. Tammie Walker, Professor of Piano at Western Illinois University, will critique and coach nominated piano students on their performances and selected repertoire for the Festival.

West Music is pleased to be working with VanderCook College of Chicago, IL to host an "Orff and Classroom Instrument Repair Workshop March 3 - 4, 12 at our very own West Music warehouse! This hands-on workshop will assist with repair and maintenance of your Orff and classroom instruments.

The Melodia is a free-reed instrument, meaning a tone is produced when air is blown over a vibrating reed. The origin of these types of instruments is thought to be from the end of the 18th century in China and Japan which inspired more modern European versions in the 19th century. Also known as a blow-organ or key-flute, these are similar to the harmonica and when playing chords resemble the sound produced by an accordion. This instrument is known by many names from various manufacturers, the Harmony Melodia is West Music’s proprietary brand.

For anyone interested in the basics of jazz improvisation on any instrument! This is a FREE informative clinic to help participants learn jazz fundamentals.
