FWISD Mariachi Extravaganza

• $200.00 registration fee (first group) and $150.00 (each additional group)
• 15‐Minute performance schedule (including setup)
• Limited to the first 12 registered groups
• Quality music education experience for all participants
• CD recording of performance provided
• Awards for Superior, Excellent, and Good ratings will be presented; as well as Best in Class (MS/HS)
  • Student groups only. Groups wishing to perform with teacher assistance may perform for comments
    only

Student Workshops / Mass Mariachi

• Students will be divided into three levels for study in mariachi technique and styles of music
  • Beginners
    • Less than a year of experience
  • Intermediate
    • 1 year of experience or more
      • Knowledge of Manicos – Basic Son, Ranchera Valseada, Ranchera Lenta, Bolero, Polka and Contratiempo (Caballito)
      • Violin, Flute and Trumpets ‐ Major scales: C, D, F, G, A, E and Minor scales: A, D, E (all scales one octave)
  • Advanced
    • 1 year of experience or more
      • Knowledge of Manicos at the Intermediate Level, as well as Huapango, Jaropo and Bolero Moruno
      • Violin, Flute and Trumpets ‐ Major scales: C, D, F, G, A, E and Minor scales: A, D, E, G, B (all scales two octaves)
• Music learned will be performed as a “Mass” Mariachi Ensemble on Saturday, April 9, 2011
