WHAT:

The University of Iowa School of Music, Steinway & Sons and West Music invite you to attend our annual Steinway Piano Extravaganza Sept 23rd, 24th, and 25th. This year we are very excited and proud to host this event at the beautiful new Coralville Center for the Performing Arts at 1301 5th street, right across from West Music! We will have three days of concerts, recitals and workshops featuring our great local talent and a very special guest Steinway artist from New York, all in celebration of the piano.  You are welcome to attend them all!

Friday Sept 23rd
10:00am - Piano Pedagogy Extravaganza - Workshop  for piano teachers presented by Dr. Alan Huckleberry of the University of Iowa piano faculty.

8:00pm - The University of Iowa Faculty in Concert - A free concert featuring our exceptional piano faculty, Uriel Tsachor, Ksenia Nosikova, Rene Lecuona and Alan Huckleberry.  

Saturday Sept 24th
1:00pm - Formal student recital - Featuring our more advanced area piano students.

3:00- 4:00pm - “Meet and Greet” our special guest artist! - Come meet our very special guest Steinway artist from New York, Lola Astanova, in the lobby of the performance center. - Ask questions, get autographs and come back for her concert at 8:00!

8:00pm - Lola Astanova in Concert - You will be amazed by this young talent! Lola has appeared on the Today show and recently performed at the Kennedy Center.  Ms. Astanova appreciates all genres of music and is passionate about involving people of all ages in participating in music. This is a ticketed event with adults $20.00 and students $10.00. Tickets may be purchased at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, 319-248-9370 or at West Music. Sunday Sept 25th
Noon - Extravaganza Master Class - Featuring area piano students and conducted by the U of I  piano faculty and Lola Astanova. Everyone is welcome! 

3:00pm - Informal student recital - Featuring our area piano students.

As part of the Extravaganza, a special selection of Steinway, Boston and Essex pianos will be available to view, play and purchase in the lobby of the performance center during regular business hours including Sunday.  Usually not discounted, these fine instruments will be available at rare savings.
