Dan Cassady teaches trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba at West Music Coralville. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts degree from The University of Iowa with additional graduate work at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.
Currently, Dan is a Sales Associate with West Music for spring and fall instrument displays and open houses, and an adjunct professor of music in the Distance Learning Department at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He has played with the Jive For Five Brass Quintet, NovaJazz, and East Side Jazz Team. In addition, this summer Dan will be performing with the Karl L. King Municipal Band, Ames Municipal Band, and the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band. Recently, he was a soloist with the Cedar Rapids Prairie High School Jazz Band One in the Corridor Jazz Project, performed tenor trombone in the Mozart Requiem with the Fort Dodge Choral Society, was an adjudicator for IHSMA Music Festivals, was a guest director at Calhoun County Band Festival, and performed with Jive For Five for a performance at the IBA Conference.
Dan enjoys playing and listening to music of all kinds, collecting CD recordings, riding motorcycles, and is an avid chess player.
