The Anatomy of a Digital Piano

Posted on 18th April 2011 by Patrick Downing

Everyday, musicians in homes, schools, and churches sit down to play their brand new, high tech, and very cool digital pianos! They press the power button, the lights click on, and the default grand piano setting sounds absolutely beautiful! With digital pianos becoming more popular, many people have a variety of questions about them. Some of our favorite customer questions have included the following:

  • How can a piano so small create such an incredible room-filling sound?
  • How did the manufacturers get hundreds of instrumental tones into the machine?
  • Do digital pianos ever need to be tuned like acoustic pianos?
  • What in the world do all of the buttons on digital pianos do anyway? (our personal favorite!)
If these questions sound familiar, or if you've ever wondered about how the digital piano works, you will soon have a great opportunity to learn all about it! On Wednesday, April  27 at 6:00pm, West Music Quad Cities will be hosting the Anatomy Of A DIGITAL Piano seminar! Presented by your Quad Cities Piano Team - Brandon Sparks and Patrick Downing - this fun and informative program will take you on a tour through the workings of the digital piano, shedding light on the main parts and processes that work together to help you create incredible sounds and beautiful music. If you've ever wondered how digital pianos create the weighted key sensation, record music, and sequence multiple sounds at the same time, now's the chance to find out!
Our Anatomy Of A DIGITAL Piano seminar will be taking place right here in the Piano Showroom at West Music Quad Cities. This program is absolutely FREE, and all are welcome! Contact us at (309) 764-9300 if you have any questions - we look forward to seeing you there!
