What Can I Play For Easter?
“Christ the Lord Is Risen Today”! “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna”! “Where You There?” Can you hear the songs in your head? Easter is around the corner. It is a time of celebration!
We each have our favorite songs which remind of us of this time of celebration. Part of the excitement is being able to sing or play those songs.
Each store has a selection of sacred piano music from easy piano to advanced. One book that I’d like to highlight is What Can I Play for Easter by Cindy Berry. What Can I Play for Easter is for the intermediate piano player. The music is arranged well in a lyrical style, and you can apply it to processionals, recessionals and offertories. I would highly recommend it.
Or are you a wind instrumental player? There are two titles that I’d like to point out: Gloria! and Messiah at Easter. Both come with a CD that you can use for performances. Image playing along with the music coming over the speakers! Both of these books are for individuals who have played for a year or two because the range is larger than for a beginner player. Curnow labels these books at grade 2-3 level player. You’re looking at a early intermediate level player.
And we aren’t forgetting the guitar players! There aren’t very many books out there specifically for Easter guitar music, but there are more and more Praise and Worship books out there. Especially in the easy guitar area, if you’re just starting to play, you can play what you’ve learned on Sunday.
If the Easter bunny is coming to visit your house this year, take a look at Little Rabbit Foo Foo! Happy Easter, and don't forget to look for these great items at your local West Music store!
