Cedar Falls September 2014 Teacher Feature: Rick Oltman

Rick Oltman is a guitar, banjo, and ukulele instructor at West Music Cedar Falls. He has his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Northern Iowa and his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa.

Rick has over 40 years of experience playing the guitar and bass guitar. He has been performing professionally since 1966 with local bands such as “The Nationals”, “The Red Rooster Band”, and “Puddin Truck.”.

Rick has been teaching guitar off and on since the 1970s and has been teaching at West Music since 2005. He appears sporadically as an accompanist for a local singer and enjoys recording music at home, computer programming, bicycling, and running.
