Dan Cassady has been teaching music in Iowa schools for 38 years, mostly in Fort Dodge. He holds the Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees from The University of Iowa. Dan is a multiple-year honoree in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and the recipient of the NCIBA Distinguished Service Awards, The University of Texas Excellence Award, and the Fort Dodge Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple Award. As a trombonist he has performed all styles. Dan is an adjudicator for the IHSMA and other festivals. His professional memberships include the Iowa Bandmasters Association, American School Band Directors Association, Jazz Educators of Iowa and the International Trombone Association. He has taught at the Reggie Schive Jazz Camps since 1985. Recently, Dan played with Aretha Franklin!
Dan's lesson instruction is personalized for each student’s individual needs and interests. Dan incorporates instruction in music theory, ear-training, music history, and musicianship along with a fundamental approach to brass playing. He teaches all ages and skill levels, from beginners to adults.
