Coralville January 2014 Teacher Feature: Jim Viner

Jim VinerJim Viner is a freelance drummer/percussionist based in Iowa City. He has been playing professionally since 1988. From 1990 – 93 he was a member of Elektra records artists Head Candy, who had a nationally released album and appearances on MTV. In the mid-90’s he was a member of area favorites High and Lonesome with David Zollo. He has toured in the USA and Europe. The Diplomats of Solid Sound, appeared at festivals in Spain and France in the summer of 2004. He has also appeared with Bo Ramsey, Joe Price, Pat Hazell, Dennis McMurrin, Dave Moore, Radoslav Lorkovic, The Bent Scepters, Tom Jessen, Ben Schmidt, Kelly Pardekooper, Brother Trucker, Billy Lee Janey, Johnny Kilowatt, Eric Straumanis, John Lake, The Pines, and The New Duncan Imperials.

Jim aims to help percussionists of all ages and skill levels develop and progress in their drumming. Jim wants to pass on the information and experience of a lifetime to as many people as possible so they might experience some of the same wonderful things he has through playing the drums.
