Matthew is the newest teacher in the Coralville West Music Conservatory, we're proud to be opening lesson space for him in January 2015. He got started in music by playing piano in elementary school, took up clarinet in the 5th grade and bassoon in 10th grade. Matthew was featured in 2012 Woodwind Quintet, worked with Buddy Rogers Music in Ohio providing instructional guidance to music students, has presented scholarly lectures on music theory and bassoon for the University of Cincinnati, and has coached and mentored students across the country in bassoon, clarinet and saxophone performance. He earned his B.M. in Bassoon Performance from the University of Michigan in 2007 and his M.M. in Bassoon Performance from the University of Cincinnati in 2009. He is a Cognate in Music Theory and has completed his coursework for a D.M.A. in Bassoon Performance from the University of Cincinnati, expected in 2015.
Matthew is actively involved in Orchestra Iowa and has served as their principal bassoonist. He is on the Player's Committee as a Negotiating Committee Member and is a ROPA representative for Orchestra Iowa as well. Matthew has worked with many orchestral organizations including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Des Moines Metro Opera and Symphony Orchestra, the Kentucky and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras and others.
