Gabby, a 10th grader at Iowa City West High School, has been taking flute and piccolo lessons with Megan Hofeldt for 3½ years and 1 year with Professor Esposito at the University of Iowa. She plays with the Quad Cities Youth Symphony Orchestra and with the band, orchestra, pit orchestra and choir at West High.
Gabby has received instruction from Alexa Still (Oberlin Conservatory), Amy Porter (University of Michigan), Zartouhi Dombourian-Eby (Seattle Symphony Orchestra), and Susan Hayes (Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp). She has participated in masterclasses, camps, and honor bands at Oberlin, Concordia College, the University of Iowa, Iowa State, Blue Lake, the University of Michigan, and SEIBA. She also has won a chair with the National Flute Association High School Flute choir. She has competed in the Central Ohio Flute Association Competition, the Iowa Flute Club Flute Wonders competition, and the Chicago Flute Club student competition, taking First in Chicago.
Gabby hopes to compete in the Quad Cities Concerto Competition, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Concerto Competition, ARIA music camp, Interlochen summer Camp and Birth Creek Fine Arts Camp.
