Grace Parrott is in 8th grade at SEJH and has been a trumpet student of Branjamin Drury since August. Benjamin says "she has fingers so good her poor horn can't keep up!" Grace's musical goals include making SEIBA in junior high, making Allstate in high school, and extending the range she can play on the trumpet. Her advice to other musicians is "learn to play the piano and it will help you when you learn to play other instruments. Take advantage of opportunities that challenge you musically." When asked what she loves about playing music, Grace says she enjoys hearing all the parts blend together to produce one sound and likes how the music that is produced can affect her emotions.
Grace participates in SEJH jazz and concert bands and small ensemble and junior choirsters at her church (Zion Lutheran). In elementary school and early junior high she took piano lessons and was involved in Orff Club. She has been involved in church choir since kindergarten. She also plays softball, runs in both cross country and track, and is on the swim team. She likes to bike, snow ski, read realistic fiction mysteries, and bake and cook (especially trying new recipes). Grace's favorite musicians are Ed Sheeran, John Legend, and Sam Smith.
It may suprise you to learn that Grace considers herself a perfectionist. She says she really loves to organize just about anything.
Congratulations, Grace! Great job!
