Kyle is the quiet contributor to the Music Therapy Department. He does his job to the best of his ability every day. Here and there, we all catch glimpses of what he really accomplishes in a day. Whether it is a large group of older adults, a patient on hospice, a young child, or individuals in rehab after having a stroke or traumatic brain injury, Kyle takes pride in all of his work.
Recently, Kyle’s State Representative, Art Staed, asked Kyle to coordinate a SoundReach performance in the Chamber of the House. Kyle arranged for members of SoundReach Choirs from both West Music Marion and West Music Piano Gallery in Urbandale to attend and the assembled choir sang God Bless America
and Hound Dog
and received a standing ovation from each representative in the House!
Kyle puts it best, “I believe people have the ability to talk better, move better, and think better and that music therapy can help them do this”. His passion for the field speaks volumes as he is not only committed to his clients, but is currently the 2nd Vice President for the Midwestern Region Music Therapy Association. He has been in charge of planning the regional conference that will take place next weekend in Omaha, Nebraska. While he has given up his love of pizza and cheesecake, we hope that he is able to find some ‘amazing’ and ‘the best ever’ food to indulge in after the conference is over. He deserves it!
