Jim Jenkins is one of our talented piano instructors. Jim has a Bachelor of Music in piano performance and choral music education from the University of Iowa. He has taught in the Cedar Rapids Schools for 21 years and also for Isaac Newton Christian Academy for 4 years.

Jim started playing piano at age 6 and has since learned many different instruments including piano, organ, guitar, cello, clarinet, Scottish Highland Bagpipes and voice. He also teaches all these different instruments! Jim has performed with the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale, and Chorale Midwest. He has also performed with Orchestra Iowa and Iowa Scottish Highlanders.

Currently Jim plays with Turlach Ur Iowa’s largest and fastest growing Scottish pipes and drums band!

Jim also works as a customer service representative with General Dynamics Information Technology and has been the organist at New Covenant Bible Church. He enjoys working towards the “a-ha!” moments in understanding music and loves to help students build confidence through performances and programs.

In his spare time Jim loves model railroading, fishing, tennis, and reading. He also loves jokes from Readers Digest and the Nesper sign here in Cedar Rapids. You can find Jim on the World Wide Web at j.j.musicstudioandministries.com.
