Matt DriscollMatt received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. He received his Master of Music in trombone performance from East Carolina University at Greenville, North Carolina. Matt received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trombone performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa. He currently teaches low brass lessons and brass techniques class, low brass chamber groups and student brass quintet at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

He is also adjunct faculty at Central College in Pella, Iowa where he teaches all low brass students and performs in faculty recitals and chamber groups. Matt teaches 5th and 6th grade elementary bands part-time at Bennett Elementary in Bennett, Iowa.

Matt has also performed professionally with the Des Moines, Peoria, Illinois, Waterloo-Cedar Falls, Orchestra Iowa, Quad Cities and Ottumwa Symphonies.

He plays with a group called Brass Transit Authority which features trombone, trumpet, and saxophone that performs the classic hits of Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Van Morrison, Huey Lewis, and other great bands from the 70’s and 80’s that feature a horn section. The band performs in Eastern Iowa and Des Moines. Recently they have performed at St. Jude’s Sweet Corn Festival, Houby Days and were featured on 2013 Jazz under the Stars.

His time away from musical activities is spent with his family, his wife, Ginny and his two daughters, Neala and Madelyn.  Matt enjoys running. This activity helps him concentrate in practice and performance while playing trombone. Once a year he tries to perform a recital of trombone solo music at Cornell or Central College.

This year his family met with his brother’s family of four and their mom and dad in Disney World for the week of Thanksgiving.
