Laura Phillips received her B.A. in music education from Eastern Washington University in 1979. She teaches flute, clarinet, and saxophone. She has her certificate to teach K-12 music in Iowa schools and is a band director with Belle Plaine community schools. She has the teaching ability range to teach children with special needs, through students getting ready for scholarship audition preparations. Ms. Phillips has a high percentage of students that receive Division 1 ratings in solo contests.

She is a member of the band Irishjam, and plays piccolo and flute for them. Their concert season happens around Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day.
Recently Ms. Phillips has travelled to North California, Oregon and Washington State with her family as she loves hiking and visiting national and state parks. In her spare time, she performs flute with the Coe College Concert Band as a community member, cuddling with her cats, gardening, and sewing.
