Alice Lindsey is one of our talented piano, French horn, and trumpet instructors here at West Music Marion. Alice began piano lessons when she was seven and started teaching when she was 11! She started to take French horn lessons at age 11 so she could be in orchestra and band. In high school her teacher assisted her in study of music history, theory and piano technique with the Sherwood School of Music in Chicago. She studied there in the summers.
Alice has received her BA and BM from Coe College and her MA from the University of Iowa. She has an additional 45 hours of study in applied piano and French horn, arranging and music education studies, including some from Iowa State University.
Alice directs and plays piano at Asbury United Methodist Church here in Cedar Rapids and does all the music planning there. She has taught at Tougaloo Southern Christian College and Cedar Rapids Schools. She accompanied for Cornell College and for the Cedar Rapids Symphony School.
Alice is an international traveler and has visited Germany, Austria, Russia, Czechoslovakia, England and France. She says teaching is sharing something special with friends.
