Terry G. Hanson is an active drummer/percussionist/educator/drum circle facilitator. He has been teaching for West Music since September 2000 and also currently teaches at Black Hawk College and the River Music Experience. He teaches beginner to advanced students, ages 8 years old to 80 years young, and he has taught and performed in 25 different countries. He teaches students starting on a drum pad to a full set of drums, concert, orchestral, marching, hand drums, and beginning mallet and timpani technique.
Terry currently performs with the Whoozdads and The Ellis Kell Band, and runs the aptly named Terry Hanson Ensemble. Through his career, he has shared a stage with Charlie Daniels, Mearle Haggard, BB King, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Little Feet, and Johnny Winter. He also played drums for Bill Payne of Little Feet, and did a short stint with a 3 Ring Circus Band.
When he isn’t performing, drinking coffee, or teaching, he enjoys fishing, swimming, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Terry works with each individual student to achieve his or her full potential on their instrument with confidence, patience, motivation, and fun. Terry is very humbled and honored to play Sonor drums, Paiste Cymbals, Aquarian Drum Heads, Vic Firth products and is also on their Education Team.
