Tommy has studied with Earle Johnson at West Music since 2006. He will be entering his senior year at Alleman High School this fall.
“Tommy started taking piano lessons in 4th grade. Tommy enjoys the classics as well as jazz and rock and roll. Two years ago, KWQC Television featured him in their coverage of the 2012 Parking Lot Jam at West Music with his piano solo in the background as they highlighted the event in their video clip. Tommy has made great progress in piano!” -Earle Johnson
After high school, Tommy plans to attend Black Hawk Community College for 2 years, then transfer to a public college/university. Right now, he is unsure of a specific major or field of study, but he is thinking about going into education to one day become a teacher.
Tommy says playing music makes him feel good and it’s a lot of fun. He really enjoys ragtime music, particularly Scott Joplin. He also enjoys tennis, Game Club at Alleman, School Newspaper, and participating in Habitat for Humanity.
A surprise piece of info about him is that he was born in the Philippines.
Tommy likes his teacher’s advice. “When you’re not practicing, someone else is.” Tommy says his advice to other musicians is “take time to practice!”
Way to go, Tommy!
