Maureen has taught privately off and on since 2010. She has taught at West Music since 2013 and currently serve as a vocal instructor at b
oth Augustana College and St. Ambrose University. She began with piano lessons during elementary school and began vocal lessons just before middle school. She graduated from Moline High School in 2006, received a Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance from Drake University in 2010, and a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance/Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in 2013.
She is currently the Choir Director/Music Coordinator at First Congregational Church in Moline. She’s involved with Quad City Music Guild, and is a singer in Quad City Choral Arts and NovaSingers.
Maureen says her favorite thing about teaching is all the little successes along the way: a smile when a student shows that they trust me as their teacher, those "A-ha!" moments where we take a hard phrase or technique and it suddenly becomes easier, the frustrating moments where although we may not yet have the desired result, we're doing great work along the way.
One of Maureen’s most interesting musical/educational experiences was during a European tour with her college choir. “My first performance after landing abroad in Italy was to sing mass on Saturday at the Vatican... with no rehearsal. That was a fascinating experience!”
Maureen enjoys hanging out with her husband Ben (choral teacher in Orion, IL) and their puppy Watson, who loves to visit his friends at the West Music store!
