Quad Cities Musician of the Month, May 2013 - Tyler Aten
Tyler, a senior at Moline High School, has studied trumpet with Steve Little for 5 years. This past fall, he was selected as part of the Illinois All-State Band and most recently was given the distinction of “Best in the Room” by Jim Lambrecht, trumpet professor at Augustana College, for Solo and Ensemble contest with the Herbert L Clarke arrangement of “Carnival of Venice.”
Tyler will be attending University of Northern Iowa in the fall to study engineering but will continue to play trumpet in college. His musical goals include playing trumpet after college and enjoy what he’s playing. Tyler has participated in pep band, pit orchestra, and National Honor Society at Moline High School, as well as IMEA District Band the past 3 years and Augustana Honor Band. Tyler is employed at Fareway Grocery Store in Moline.
“He’s come a long way in the last couple years. His sound is improved, his technique has improved, and he’s worked really hard,” says Steve.
