Katelyn Holt has been studying under Jenni Pickering’s instruction for 4 years. She is in 9th grade at Moline High School. She keeps busy with music juggling three different ensembles including the Black Hawk College Community Orchestra, Quad City Youth Symphony and the Moline High Orchestra. Last year she performed “Song of a Caged Bird” in her first ever Parking Lot Jam, and loved it! Her favorite song to play on violin is “Crystallize” by Lindsey Sterling.

She loves tacos and Klondike bars. She hates heights but said she would skydive for a Klondike bar, that’s just the kind of dedication Katelyn has for the things she loves. You might be surprised to know that Katelyn wants to learn Chinese and travel to China! She beamed from ear to ear as she described the things she would love to see in China, including the weird vending machines that pose as an interesting way to sell things like IPods and such.

When she’s not playing violin or dreaming of China, Katelyn is hanging out with her dog Kasey – an awesome Airedale Terrier.  Jenni loves teaching Katelyn and said; “Every time she comes in and I throw something new at her she dives in fearlessly and attacks it. She is super bubbly and has enthusiasm for everything. We never get through a lesson without laughing.”

Her advice to other musicians is to “Just keep swimming… just keep swimming…just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!”

Keep up the great work, Katelyn!
