Quad Cities September 2013 Musician of the Month: Race Fisher

Race has been taking drum lessons with Wes Weeber for over 3 years. He recently bought an electric guitar that he is teaching himself to play.

He is a junior at Sherrard High School. When asked about his post graduation plans he responded with “I have no idea” in a breezy tone while donning a relaxed smile.

Race has many pets, including dogs, cats, and horses. Although he claims he doesn’t care much for the horses, he does appreciate when Mom and stepdad take them out for a ride so he can “play my drums as loud as I want while they are gone”.

He lists Solefald, an avante garde black metal band, as one of his favorites and states that he really enjoys “the Norwegian stuff”. One of the things he is most proud of, as of recent, is recording his very first EP with his friend Cole . They call themselves Necrodyssey, which is borrowed from a Solefald song title.

Like many teenage boys, Race spends some of his downtime playing video games such as Doom and Quake. He surrounds himself with music and professes that he spends way too much on new cymbals.

At the time of our interview, Race was on his way to perform with the Weekend Warriors at River Roots festival in the junior jam tent!!!

Rock on Race!
