Peter Roberts is a pianist, composer, and improviser originally from Independence, IA. He attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with both a B.A., minor in jazz studies, and M.A. in piano performance studying under Sean Botkin. While studying he gave two recitals and accompanied the choirs Concert Choral and UNI singers. He also played, recorded, and composed for the award winning UNI Jazz Band One for four years.
Peter currently lives in Urbandale with his wife Joslyn. There he is the Director of Music Ministries at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Peter is an active accompanist and jazz performer in the Des Moines area. Previously Peter has accompanied the Orpheus Pagan Chamber Choir, Luminous Threads Productions and Opera on Tap all in Denver, CO. He held positions as Director of Music at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Littleton, CO, Director of Music for St. Timothy’s United Methodist and Studio Teacher for the Community Music School in Cedar Falls, IA. He was a member of Villians Proper, a producing duo, in Boulder and has recorded with the Iowa band “Lick It Ticket.”
