Fall String Care Tips
Written by Ryan West

1. Remember to keep your instrument in as consistent a temperature as possible. Don't leave it in a very hot or cold environment, especially in a vehicle.
2. Now is the time to think about humidification. Dampits are a great tool for keeping your instrument's wood in good condition.
3. Keep your instrument clean! Constant playing can create rosin build-up on your bow and instrument. Wipe off rosin dust with a soft, dry cloth after you play. Only use polish made specifically for stringed instruments.

4. How long has it been since you replaced your strings? Most students need to replace their strings an average of 2-4 times a year.

5. What condition is your case in? Remember not to put pencils, shoulder rests or other items in a case that does not have special compartments for them - you could cause damage to your instrument!
