| 1. Remember to keep your instrument in as consistent a temperature as possible. Don't leave it in a very hot or cold environment, especially in a vehicle. | | | 2. Now is the time to think about humidification. Dampits are a great tool for keeping your instrument's wood in good condition. | | | 3. Keep your instrument clean! Constant playing can create rosin build-up on your bow and instrument. Wipe off rosin dust with a soft, dry cloth after you play. Only use polish made specifically for stringed instruments. | | | 4. How long has it been since you replaced your strings? Most students need to replace their strings an average of 2-4 times a year. | | | 5. What condition is your case in? Remember not to put pencils, shoulder rests or other items in a case that does not have special compartments for them - you could cause damage to your instrument! | |
