Featuring Angie Green
Written by Mendel Kurland

Angie Green has been teaching electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar for a total of 8 years, but has been playing much longer than 17 years! Angie teaches all styles, but her strengths are rock and blues. Although she has had no formal schooling other than private lessons in piano and guitar, she excels as a teacher and her students love their lessons and are long term.

Angie works at West Music as the Director of Purchasing, which is a hectic, high profile position. Her other "job" besides teaching and her full-time position at West Music is playing rhythm guitar in her band, The Jodie Foster Connection. The band has been together since 2005 and plays 80's cover tunes. Not to mention the band members are mainly female musicians.

You'll hear them frequently around the Cedar Rapids area.

Angie writes fiction and nonfiction and has a great affection for pets, especially dogs, exotic pets and tropical fish. One of Angie's exotic pets is a sugar glider. When asked about other activities, Angie says: "Other than playing with The JFC, I don't do anything. I'm boring -- that's how I like it. I own a house, I drive an economy car, and I have four different retirement accounts. I am skeptical by nature; Penn & Teller are my heroes. Some people say I am cynical -- I say it's only because I've been disappointed so many times by so many people; George Carlin is also my hero. I like candy. Kids love me because I am silly. I like kids because they laugh at my jokes when no one else does. I had a prairie dog as a pet for several years -- best pet I ever owned.

My opinion is Angie Green is anything BUT boring! If you're looking for a great guitar teacher, Angie teaches at the Marion and Coralville West Music locations.
