I know it's been a while since my last post, and we're still here. It's been a jam packed couple of weeks. Let me tell you about them!
We've had a couple of clinics here at West Music during the last couple of weeks, and I had a hand in two of them. And we have another one coming up! Ed Friedland, the author of the Hal Leonard Bass Guitar method, will be here in Coralville on 11/12 at 6:00 p.m. Give a call to the store if you'd like to attend! The first one was a sacred choral reading session on 10/14 at the Botanical Gardens in the Quad Cities area. Keith Christopher came and went through several of his Choral pics. I personally really liked his own composition "Prayer and Alleluia." I'd check it out. For those music directors in the QC area, we have sample packets left from this event. Please call the QC store and ask for Heather McGriff. She'll set it up so that it's ready for you to claim when you come in the door. We're working on honoring our church partners first; however, there maybe a couple packets left. BTW, tell Heather I said hi. :) The second clinic that we hosted was the George Lynch guitar clinic in our Marion location. Despite some technical difficulties and a travel delay (George went the wrong way accidentally to almost the IA-MN border before calling!), the crowd was geared up to listen to some astounding guitar playing. George played several songs, and then he answered many questions from the crowd, from what his musical influences are to how he survives in the music industry. Through the years, George has kept growing in his own performing and music and electronics, and now instructional material. (Hal Leonard sponsored this tour, and they have several books and DVDs from George.) There's a DVD that he highlighted during the clinic, titled, "Wicked Riffs," which we currently have in the Marion store. If you want to learn more about George, see http://www.georgelynch.com/. George was even so kind as to stay after and autograph items for several people. Thanks, George! I would like to send a Thank You! to all of you out there who attended. We love to share our love of music with you and help further all our music education. Since I primarily deal with Print Music, I'm a link at getting print related clinics here in the store -- from sessions for piano teachers to Lynch, Alfred, Hal Leonard, Kjos... just to name a few. What type of sessions you'd like to see? Please contact
