1) How would you describe your music curriculum?
All encompassing. I want students to be able to reproduce the songs and games that we have done in the classroom at home or on the playground. We sing, we dance, we play instruments, we read music, we laugh, and we learn.

2) How would you describe your classroom set-up?
I keep my room as open and inviting as possible. We move a lot – we have too – and I don't want anyone getting hurt! There is an area off to the side of the room with a class set of mallet instruments, including paper xylophones, so we can work on our music reading at the end of every class with very little set-up time. I also keep a table near my storage room door that I put all the instruments needed for the week.

3) Do you like to have a theme(s) throughout the school year?
No, I like to keep things interesting, and I get bored if I stay on the same topic for too long. I decided that if I was bored, there was no way I could keep the students attention and have a good time!

4) Are there any particular resources you like to use throughout the year?
I use As American As Apple Pie, 2nd Rhyme Around, and 3rd Rhymes the Charm on a regular basis. I may not always use the songs or activities exactly as they are in the book, but they always have great ideas to that are very age appropriate and transferable to several different songs.

5) Is there any instrument(s) you especially like to use to teach a certain music concept?
I use the recorder as a second voice, especially when I feel a cold coming on. The students like the added instrument, and it gives my voice a break! I use the slide whistle to aid in teaching pitch, and rhythm sticks and hand drums are a must for teaching rhythm!

6) Favorite quote or philosophy:
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little bit of extra that you do!

7) Do you have a person, educator, composer, performer who has been your inspiration?
My Middle School Band Director, Mr. Brian Green, was a major influence in my music education. He always had the highest expectation, and then took the time to make sure we achieved them. He was always branching out to do things "differently" to make sure we understood what music was all about! He had a strong passion for music that was contagious!!!

Congratulations to Ms. Muldrow for sharing some great information with the readers. I also am a class room music teacher in the Bogalusa City Schools District. I really enjoyed reading the responses from Ms. Rachel. If I were a primary student, I think I would want to be a part of this music classroom. I like the ideal that Ms. Rachel includes fun, while learning. That is very important at an early age. I think Ms. Rachel is on the right track in inspiring her students to develop an appreciation and love for the art of music
