Weekend Warriors is a program that was originated in Sacramento, California in 1993 by Skips Music, and was then adapted by NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants). It's a program designed with Baby Boomer age musicians in mind who used to be in bands in high school and college and want to form a band again and perform in front of an audience.
Since that time, the program has evolved into quite a large event with people of all ages--from preteens to senior citizens--coming together to form bands and perform at local venues.
During the 6-8 week session participants learn how to work in a group with new people, make music, and have tons of fun. Each group has a lead singer, drummer, bass guitarist, one or more guitarists and sometimes even a keyboardist. A coach helps guide them with rehearsals and song selection. The coach will also help them correct mistakes and improve.
At the end of the session there is a performance/concert night. At the performance the group will finally get to showcase their talent and hard work to all of their friends and family. It's a really fun event and is enjoyed by everyone!!
So if you played in a band once in your life or have always wanted to be in a band, then this is the program for you!!
