Recent releases from G. Schirmer , Inc., have included what is sure to become "must haves" for all French horn teachers. "The Horn Collection" is a series of three collections of standard horn literature with piano accompaniment. Graded as "Easy to Intermediate," "Intermediate," and "Intermediate to Advanced" levels, each includes music for recital or contest that is appropriate to that level. Notes on the composers and the music are included. These can be used as excellent teaching tools.

Enhanced CDs are included with each collection. These CDs contain full performances of the music by Bernhard Scully, principal horn of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Vincent Fuh, pianist with the Oakwood Chamber Players and the Madison (WI) Symphony Orchestra. Piano only recordings are included for practice purposes. Tempo adjustment software is also included for your computer. This software allows the recordings to be slowed down for rehearsal, another great tool for both teacher and student.

Composers include Beethoven, Mozart, Heiden, Puccini, Strauss, Granados, and Mussorgsky among many others.

Reasonably priced at under $20.00, these books should become a part of every French horn teacher's library.
