Julie, one of our newest Weekend Warriors, has been blogging her thoughts as she practices for her upcoming performances.
She's performing on bass with two bands, "The Headliners" and "Collect 4". You might also want to click here to watch the video practice session for The Headliners. Julie's First Week The first Weekend Warriors Jazz Band started on Saturday. We learned one song; Cruella De Ville. I was surprised to see that we were able to play all of the way through it! Next week, I am looking forward to getting new songs.
Julie's Third Week Blog of Collect 4 I love the teen band. We get to play a bunch of modern and cool rock songs with a few classic rock songs. Even though there are only four of us, we are amazing! Everyone knows what to do and it makes practices go a lot smoother and we get more done. I don’t know yet which songs or how many we are going to do. I think Nate (the coach) is aiming for six songs. I’m looking forward to playing at Jamison’s soon. It’s going to be so much fun! Blog of The Headliners In the Jazz Band, I feel the kids playing are a little young. The age range is 8 to 14, and I’m the oldest. They don’t seem to know when to mess around and when to play. Right now, we’re working on three songs; Cruella de Ville, Georgia On My Mind, and, It Don’t Mean a Thing. The songs are starting to come together, but we still have a long way to go. There are about 4 practices left, and I think we’ll have four songs to play at our gig. We are all wishing for the best! Julie's Fifth Week Blog of The Headliners In the jazz band we got a new song, so we are up to four. I think that is all we will be playing for our concert. I am looking forward to seeing it come together in the end. Blog of Collect 4 The rock band is amazing; we have another song that has been added to the set list. I think we are up to six rocking songs! I love our sound and can't wait for other people to see and hear us perform!
