Minimusic is an exciting new program coming to Cedar Falls West Music Conservatory. Designed for children ages 4-6, it prepares younger students for traditional private lessons in most instruments including piano, voice, violin, flute, guitar, drums, and others.

This Saturday, May 30, 2009, from 1 to 4 PM At West Music off John Deere Rd. and 41st Street -- 4305 44th Ave, Moline, IL -- two of our drum teachers, Terry Hanson and Wes Weeber, will be putting on master-classes OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Terry Hanson will be accompanied by Dave Cox on bass, and they will be discussing rhythm section grooves in different musical genres in a professional setting.

Your kids will make friends and play music when they join us this summer for courses designed for kids of all ability levels.

Most people believe that "playing by ear" is something you're born with; an innate talent that you have or don't have. Actually, most people can learn to play this way. In fact, in some ways, it's easier than learning to read music and can add a level of enjoyment and self expression that is often stifled by traditional methods of learning to play the piano.

West Music/CR now offers accelerated adult group piano classes.

These lessons differ from traditional methods where sight-reading is emphasized. Students of this course will learn to play in a shorter amount of time by using chord methods and number theory. Each level will focus on ear training, shapes and fingering patterns, and application of theory. Each level last for 12 weeks.

Yipee! The Marion West Music store just started Yamaha Keyboard Encounters this past Tuesday March 10 at 6:30 PM and will go for 6 weeks until April 14. This is a FUN 6 week Intro to Piano Class for adults who have always wanted to try piano lessons.

I have recently finished up a six week summer Music Therapy course at the Marion location. The title of the class was "Summer Tune-up!" and it was for children ages 6-9 with various disabilities.

Although I am not a special education teacher or a music teacher, I do have experience teaching K-8 music in the schools.

On June 16, 2008 I am beginning a World of Drumming class for the Discover Summer School in Cedar Rapids.
