27% of online shoppers who plan to buy holiday gifts online this year will look for ideas about what friends and family want on sites such as Facebook. And nearly one-half will use social networks to research items, compare prices, & look for special offers like free shipping. (Mashable)

So do you want to play guitar, but are overwhelmed with the choices of books out there?
Ever find yourself looking for new music and not sure what to get? Ask! Taking a moment to ask your music teacher, a friend, or even your favorite West Music person what their favorite music book is -- and why -- can lead you to a whole world of books you didn't know about. By asking a person why they liked the book, you may find books that are very melodic, easy to play, challenging, refreshing, and fun. Ask the person what they mean when they tell you what they like about the book -- and get details. Remember, every book may not fit every person, but you may find a book buddy: someone with similar interests as you that you can swap books with. You may also find an "opposite" book buddy: someone that may not like a book that you did, so you can swap. Call your local West Music store today to order any of the following books: One of my favorite books is Jumbo Easy Piano Songs from Hal Leonard Publishing (311014). It has over 200 songs. I love the variety, and because they are at an Easy Piano level it's easy for me to sit and site read through a variety of songs.
"It goes like this: the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled king composing…" This easy piano version of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen is now available through Hal Leonard! This is an interesting piece with an interesting history behind it. The piece has been covered by many different artists as well as being played in a variety of different movies and television shows. It was originally released by Cohen in 1984 on his album Various Positions, and since then has been recorded over 180 times by varying artists.
Living next door to Barbara Martin, a former Waterloo orchestral director, gave me the opportunity to meet a wonderful man, Anthony Bacich, her father. He was a longtime orchestra director in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area, also, and saw a need to have a simple string book for his private students that would give them easy and enjoyable songs to play. That is how Tone Poems for Strings had its start.
Hi all Federation Teachers out there!
