Music Therapy Services at West Music has recently been accepted by the American Music Therapy Association as a National Roster internship site. This means that we can now accept interns from all accredited music therapy programs throughout the world.
The internship serves a number of populations including adults and children with developmental disabilities, adults with dementia, well elderly, and individuals in hospice. Interns would gain experience working with a variety of populations in a contractual music therapy setting. Opportunities to lead 1:1 sessions, small groups (3-8) and large groups (up to 30) will be provided.

Part of the process of becoming a Music Therapist is completing a six month internship.
I'm currently near the end of my fifth month of being a music therapy intern. As part of the internship, I've been working on creating a music therapy group to be held out of the Marion Music Therapy Studio.
For my project I decided to start a flute choir for older adults. My group has five flautists, and we play music of a variety of styles. Our first rehearsal was the second week in May, and we meet once a week for about forty-five minutes. We will have about eight rehearsals and then conclude the group with a mini concert at one of the area residential facilities.
<p>I have now completed two months of my six month internship here at West Music. One of my projects to complete during my time here is to start a new group to use the conservatory room in the Marion store. I have decided to start a Signing Choir.
Part of the process of becoming a Music Therapist is completing a six month internship at the end of undergraduate studies. My experience as West Music's first Music Therapy Intern so far has been exciting and educational.
