By Dolores Anderson. One of a series of books providing a unique adaptive notation system for use with tone chimes; the book also works well with handbells. The "12 Toners" title refers to the numbering system, which uses 12 numbered notes to make a chromatic octave. If additional tone chimes are available, the numbers can be extended up or down to include more ringers. Several different color and/ or number coding systems are presented, to make successful ringing possible for everyone regardless of if they read music. Choose to play chords as you sing the song, play a simple melody line along with the song, or combine the melody with chords for more advanced groups. Permission is granted to the purchaser to make transparencies or charts of the songs from the book.    48 pages.

Songs included: Joy to the World, Silent Night, Up on the Housetop, Auld Lang Syne, Away in a Manger, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, O Come All Ye Faithful.

I thought it might be worth a try. We read full chords last year and it proved difficult for some students.

Is this a good book for 4th grade beginners? How many octaves do the songs require? What Christmas songs are they?
