3rd Rhyme's the Charm

Third in a series of 3 nursery rhyme books. This collection includes 19 lessons for students in the primary grades. Each activity includes the teaching process, as well as the objectives and suggested grade level. Some of the activities also include reproducible visuals for use in your classroom. Activities are organized into 3 sections: rhythm, melody and harmony/timbre. In the area of rhythm, lessons reinforce pulse, note reading and rhythmic training through the use of the ostinato, imitation and improvisation. In the area of melody, the focus includes S-M, S-M-L, and M-R-D melodies as well as both major and minor pentatonic songs. In harmony/timbre, activities begin with mallet technique, explore beginning part singing and offer a variety of bordun and chord change accompaniments.
Instruments used: soprano and alto glockenspiel; soprano, alto and bass xylophone; soprano, alto and bass metallophone; C, D, F and G contrabass bars; bongos; conga; bass drum; timpani; hand drum; tambourine; triangle; cymbal (with brush); wind chimes; rhythm sticks; woodblock; temple blocks.
