Educational music software game. 6 game areas feature activities to practice your existing knowledge of names of the piano keys, note names on the treble and bass staff, C major and G major scales, melodic intervals, musical terms, and counting in 4/4 or 3/4 time. No music theory instruction is given - just practice what you already know. Student scores are not tracked. Colorful, fun graphics are good for young children (especially the elementary grades). A great value - perfect for at-home practice, after school programs, or private lesson studios.

For ages 7+ (especially good for elementary grades).

Game descriptions:
Name That Key: practices piano keys; 20 questions. 17 chromatic keys are shown - click the letter name of the correct key that the ladybug lands on. If a MIDI keyboard is connected, you can play the correct key instead.

Note Name Race: practices notes on the treble & bass staff; 20 questions. Click on the letter name for the note shown; if a MIDI keyboard is connected, you can play the correct key instead. The turtle progresses further through a race for each correct answer given; a wrong answer sends him back to the beginning.

Cross the River: practices musical terms; 20 questions. Click the correct name for the symbol shown: dynamic markings; clef signs; quarter, half, and dotted half notes; tied notes; slur; repeat; or time signature.

Counting Game: practices completing measures; 10 questions. Click on the apple with the correct note or rest value to complete the measure shown. The rhythm pattern plays when the measure is completed.

Under the Sea: practices C major & G major scales. Click the letter names to state the 1st and 2nd tetrachords for the given scale, plus the correct notes of that scale. If a MIDI keyboard is connected, you can play the correct keys instead.

Melodic Intervals: 20 questions. From the starting note, click to move the 2nd note to match the stated interval (e.g. "Up a third"). If a MIDI keyboard is connected, you can play the correct key instead.

Why did you choose this?
West Music Store
I'm using it with the homeschool class I teach once a week. I have varying ages, so I need something fun, but educational, that some students can do while I'm working with others. It seems to cover all the musical areas that are necessary for our class.

The price was right, and the software seems suitable for our outdated laptops.

will software play on windows 7 and 8?
Nan W on Jan 7, 2015
Best Answer: This software will work with Windows 7 and 8. If you have issues, Windows 7 & 8 also have the ability to run programs as older versions of Windows. Once it’s installed, you can right click on the program icon and click on Properties. Go the Compatibility Tab and mark the box “Run this program in compatibility mode"
