Our Perspective

Sand blocks are a popular instrument for children of all ages.  With a handle that makes them easy to hold, they make a fun scratching noise when rubbed together or a clapping sound when hit together.  They are great for making sound effects, and silly noises!  -Jenny

Description

Introduce young children to basic percussion with sandblocks from Basic Beat. Children can easily learn the concepts of percussion and rhythm by sliding one sandblock across the other. Each sandblock is constructed out of wood that sandpaper has been securely attached to. Each block has hand grips to make playing them easy, even for tiny hands. They’re safe for all ages, but we recommend using them with children 18 months and up to experience the most joy they can create.

• Easy-grip Handles

I'm doing a cute Kindergarten train unit and I use these sandblocks with the kids. I ordered these as replacements for broken ones I have at school.

I like the gripper handles on top versus the indentations along the sides for gripping; however, my handles all came loose after minimum use and I had to re-glue them all. Work fine now.

I love using sandblocks for "train" songs and activities. The kids can mimic the sound of the train rolling along using the sandblocks. Always a hit!
