Our Perspective

As an early childhood teacher, the 8 inch rhythm sticks are perfect for my students little hands.  As an education consultant, I recommend the 12 inch as a better fit for elementary aged students.  Either size is the perfect tool for practicing many different rhythmic activities.  I also love that there is one ridged and one smooth stick per set making them easy for my young students to identify; we can also explore the different sounds that are made by the various textures.  -Jenny

By Basic Beat. Longer standard length combination rhythm sticks, with one smooth and one ridged stick per pair. Made of American hickory with a natural finish (no paint to chip); since the entire tree is used in the manufacturing process, color variations in the wood will occur. The ridged stick is approximately 12" long; the smooth stick is approximately 8" long. The ridged stick is also thicker than the smooth stick.

I was pleased with the quality of these sticks and how they've held up after repeated use by energetic students in my music classes.

They are durable, easy to clean, and all the same color so the students don't fight over them!

Best price I could find on the web. I was shopping for a classroom set of rhythm sticks for my classroom.

Would these sticks be appropriate for 8th grade general music or would these be better for primary grades? Thanks

Best Answer: I had my Tahitian dancers buy them to use in their dance routine to add rhythms. The girls are she's 9-13. They are easy to handle, work with (and throw). So I would say "yes."
