Our Perspective

As an early childhood teacher, the 8 inch rhythm sticks are perfect for my students little hands.  As an education consultant, I recommend the 12 inch as a better fit for elementary aged students.  Either size is the perfect tool for practicing many different rhythmic activities.  I also love that there is one ridged and one smooth stick per set making them easy for my young students to identify; we can also explore the different sounds that are made by the various textures.  -Jenny

Description

Create music with your students by incorporating a multi-sensory approach with Basic Beat’s Rhythm Sticks. Including both a 12” ridged and an 8” smooth stick, they stimulate the sensations of sound, sight & touch. Rubbing or tapping these rhythm sticks will help children develop skills in a wide range of areas including fine motor skills, rhythm, coordination, and body awareness.

Crafted from solid American hickory wood and covered in a natural finish, these rhythms sticks have no paint to chip or crack which keeps them looking good.  You’ll also note that there may be slight color variation, since the manufacturing process uses the entire tree.

I chose these rhythm sticks because they are made of unfinished wood. I like the quality, and want my purchase to last a long time.
Cynthia T on Sep 21, 2012
I've wasted too much money on rhythm sticks that ended up chipping after only a year's use with kids in the schools. It's a relief to find some decent sticks that I won't have to worry about the kids being in danger of chipping paint and wood.

I purchased these because they are the only rhythm sticks of these kind. I am disappointed that they are not colored like the other sets I have gotten in the past and hope they hold up better.
Summer B on Aug 14, 2012
I have a lot of experience with these and usually they are red and they do chip. However, these are natural in color and safer for young children! Safety is always the foremost goal.

Rhythm sticks are my daughters favorite in her music class. She turns everything into rhythm sticks at home, so its time I get her a pair of her own.

I teach dance in a preschool. I was thinking
about making rhythm sticks but found these too beautiful and inexpensive to pass up. I'm sure we will have a blast with them!

Would these sticks be appropriate for 8th grade general music or would these be better for primary grades? Thanks
A shopper on Aug 22, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I had my Tahitian dancers buy them to use in their dance routine to add rhythms. The girls are she's 9-13. They are easy to handle, work with (and throw). So I would say "yes."
