Canons of Peace and Hope
Collected and edited by Liz Keefe
Book
39 pages

14 original canons, by Philip Benson, Bertrand Gosselin, James Harding, Wolfgang Hartmann, Chris Judah-Lauder, Liz Keefe, Idit Kubitsky, Lisa Mandelstein, Christoph Maubach and Scott Stone. Each of the composers is also a music teacher who works with children in the music classroom. These songs are written with the hope of strengthening peace in our hearts and in the world as they are sung with students and friends.

Includes words and melody line; also a small background note about each composer, quotations from famous figures in history (such as Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln) and general suggestions for performance. Some songs also brief notes; 2 include parts for Orff instruments; 1 includes guitar chords. Songs in foreign languages include an English translation, but not always a pronunciation guide. Proceeds from the book will be donated to the International Red Cross.
