The Recorder Resource Kit
Teacher guide
By Denise Gagne
Softcover book, separate reproducible pages, cardstock flashcards, accompaniment CD
20 pages (book)
Grade 3 - 5

Everything you need for teaching a first year soprano recorder program. The teacher guide has simple Orff accompaniments (mostly borduns), piano/guitar chord symbols, listening activities, evaluation ideas, suggestions for implementing the method and 5 pages of note name flash cards (2 per page).

Also included are reproducible pages for care of the recorder, general information on the recorder, theory pages, recorder quiz, 5 "Mad Minute" pages (identifying notes on the staff), 2 composition pages, fingering chart for soprano and alto recorders and a student practice record. Includes 42 student pages (one set has regular notation and the other has the letter names printed on the note heads) for you to copy and the accompaniment CD to duplicate.

The CD contains almost all of the songs from the student sheets; each song indicates how many bars long the introduction is or if the song is not on the accompaniment recording. For copy-permissible materials, teachers can duplicate the pages (or CD) for use in one class.

Note Progression: B, A, G, E, D, high C, high D, F.

Teacher Guide Contents: To the Teacher, Evaluation, Implementing the Method, The Songs (with chords, Orff accompaniment and some activity ideas).

Why did you choose this?
West Music Store
I wanted reproducible pages, assessment ideas, "the nuts and bolts" of recorder. The price would be good if I order it for a whole class or 2.

I've used it before, many years ago and found it very easy and useful to teach recorder
