Book and Teaching Guide
62 pages

A song cycle for voices and Orff instruments. Two instrumental interludes, providing opportunity for movement and dance, allow the performance of the work as a single larger piece. The contemporary harmonies create a dramatic and sophisticated experience for junior and secondary school grades. A useful mini-score is provided. Total duration is approx. 17 minutes.

"Dancing Songs" was commissioned by the American Orff-Schulwerk Assoication and first performed by South Central Minnesota Orff Chapter at the AOSA National Conference in Kansas City in 1985.

I.   Prelude: Round (voices with instruments)
II. "Summer Dance" (voices with instruments)
III. Interlude (instruments only)
IV. "The Camel Dances" (voices with instruments)
V.   Interlude  (same as III)
VI. "Rain Dance" (voices with instruments)
VII. Postlude (voices with instruments)
