Easy Hymns for 8 Note Bells
By Alan Hager
Book and CD
11 pages
Beginning Handbell or Tone Chime Choirs

12 favorite hymns, arranged for beginning handbell choirs. The songs can all be played using a set of 8 diatonic handbells (or tone chimes), middle C to high C (C5 to C6). The book is written so that the accompaniment chords coordinate with Kidsplay color-coded handbells (item 200269, available separately) and color-coded chord cards (item 530060, available separately).

Each song shows the melody line and lyrics, with the chord letters below the notes and staff.

By purchasing the color coded chord cards and Kidsplay color coded handbells, beginning choirs and ringers who don't read music can be easily taught the accompaniment chords for each song. This book provides a perfect way to combine two levels of handbell choirs- have your more advanced ringers play the melody on a set of handbells or tone chimes, while your beginning choir rings the chords. Or combine handbell ringers with other instrumentalists or with a vocal choir. (Several other ideas are also given in the book.) Permission is granted for the purchaser to reproduce the sheet music parts for use with the ringers in their group.

The included CD has both practice tracks and performance tracks for each song. Practice tracks feature handbells playing the melody on the first verse, chords on the second verse, and both on the third verse. Performance tracks have the accompaniment only, played through 3 times.
