A Teacher's Guide
By Arvida Steen
Book
376 pages
Grades K - 5

Teacher's guide for developing a curriculum and lessons that address our children's needs and include improvisation and musical experimentation opportunities. Shows how to form a curriculum that addresses students' needs; how to choose the best materials for lessons from the abundant materials available; how to plan lessons that have a clear focus and are also open to frequent student contributions.

The curriculum outline presented is to be viewed as a flexible tool that will help us respond to the changing characteristics of our classrooms and schools. The outline may also be used as a reference to connect it and the materials that follow with a curriculum you are already using.
The second part of the book outlines a flexible curriculum for each grade, with lesson suggestions for each objective. It also illustrates various ways to encourage individual and group participation.

For teachers to use with grade K to 5.

what is a moving bordun?
A shopper on Apr 1, 2012
Best Answer: A moving bordum is played on a bass metallophone or bass xylophone. I have used these also using a bass metallophone/xylophone and an alto metallophone and/or alto xylophone.

ex: low C and G on the bass in half notes (2 4 time or 4 4 time) then the same chord on the upper C and G ( half notes) or on the alto instrument while the low instrument rests or does not play. The instruments take turns in alternating half note patterns - one then the other.

I am sure there at other Orff-Schulwerk teachers who can give you a better answer or example.

Hope this helps!
