Description

Kids Can Listen, Kids Can Move!
By Lynn Kleiner
Book and CD
40 pages

Lynn presents her creative ideas and stories for movement and percussion playing, as she delights preschool through primary-age children with orchestral favorites. There are selections for marching, dancing, trotting, skipping, jumping, hiding, sleeping, playing instruments, entering class and saying goodbye. The activities incorporate songs (classical themes with new lyrics), dance, games, triangles, optional stick horses or kangaroo and joey puppets, children's story books (The Snowy Day and The Story of Ferdinand), tambourines, jingle bells, parachute, shaker eggs, guiro tone block, rhythm sticks, hand drums (or Sound Shapes), maraca, glockenspiel, xylophone, scarves (especially red ones), listening map and finger cymbals. The included CD has tracks to coordinate with each of the activities and many of the activity lesson plans show the specific timing for each event as it occurs on the CD track.

For preschool to elementary grades.

This is wonderful! I use it all the time. Besides being great classroom activities, many of them work well on a program, too.

This was recommended to me by a veteran music teacher. I love using this book. My young students love it and the music is a joy to listen to.
