Classroom instrument substitutes for the Chinese Luogu ensemble instruments:

  • large gong (or large cymbal)
  • small gong (or smaller cymbal)
  • small pair of cymbals or finger cymbals
  • drum, kettle drum or hand drum
  • bell or triangle
  • rectangular/notched woodblock
  • glockenspiel, xylophone, piano or other melody instrument (for cloud gong)
  • recorder, saxophone, clarinet, flute, tin whistle or other wind instrument (for Chinese flute)
