Musical Games, Fingerplays and Rhythmic Activities for Early Childhood
By Marion Wirth, Verna Stassevitch, Rita Shotwell and Pat Stemmler
Ages 2 - 10
132 activities for young children, including musical singing games, chants, fingerplays and rhythmic activities; all include some kind of action. The activities in the book were chosen for their popularity and appeal with children, as well as their abilities to help build important organizational, expressive and memory skills. Each activity gives the recommended age range, benefits, any materials needed, directions and variations and/or other comments. Songs show the notation of the melody line with the first verse of lyrics; most songs also show chord letters. The melodies have been notated in a range comfortable for both children and adults. Both traditional folk songs and original songs are included.
