The Talking drum, or "dondo" as it is called in Ghana, is one of the most unusual African instruments.

You squeeze it under your arm as you strike it with your other hand using a curved mallet (included), thereby creating an infinite range of tones. Really good musicians can mimic the tones of language and actually "talk" through the drum. The talking drum originated in Nigeria - historically, talking drum masters sent messages, held conversations, and talked to the spirits with the hourglass-shaped drum.

This Talkiing Drum is 11" x 5", a nice size for children.

Includes mallet.
